The Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a qualified M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. professional trained in Clinical Microbiology, to join a major clinical and investigative Division of Infectious Diseases Diagnostics (IDDx) at Northwell Health Laboratories, serving the 23 hospital Northwell Health system. The IDDx central laboratory is a 35,000 sq.ft. dedicated facility in eastern Queens, NY, located near to the main 110,000 sq.ft. Core Laboratory and the two major hospitals of the Northwell Health in Long Island, North Shore University Hospital (Manhasset, NY) and Long Island Jewish Medical Center (New Hyde Park, NY). This faculty-level position will report to the Senior Director of the Division of IDDx; job responsibilities will include involvement in the technical and scientific operation of the central laboratory, including development and evaluation of test procedures, reporting results, adherence to quality control standards and accurate reporting of test findings; and involvement in clinical microbiology service delivery at system hospitals, inclusive of near-patient molecular diagnostics. This individual will be appointed faculty in the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and will be involved in educational activities of the Pathology Residency Training Program, medical student teaching for the Zucker School of Medicine, and support of teaching for medical technologist degree programs. Partici­pa­tion in clinical and basic research programming is encouraged, and the division has active research programs in both arenas. Required qualifications include accredited fellowship training in Clinical Microbiology (M.D. or Ph.D.) with Board certification/eligibility in Clinical Micro­biology from the American Board of Pathology or American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM); professional licensure in the State of New York, and eligibility for New York State Department of Health Certificate of Qualifications in Clinical Microbiology practices. Experience in transplant services related to Infectious Disease Diagnostics is preferred. Please send cover letter and curriculum vita to: opr@northwell.edu.
