ChristianaCare is currently seeking a Technician II for the Tissue Procurement department. The primary function of this position is to carry out translational research activities related to the collection of fresh and frozen tissue samples for the Tissue Procurement and to sort and catalog paraffin pathology blocks for the Tissue Microarray Center in the Tissue Procurement Center of the Translational Cancer Research Department at the Helen F Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute.
Other job responsibilities include:
Works with research team to pull and catalog required formalin fixed paraffin embedded blocks (FFPE) from pathology archives.
Work with research team to screen and upload patient data on formalin fixed paraffin embedded blocks (FFPE) into CDET system (electronic database) to serve as catalog for researcher Tissue Micro Array orders.
Work with research team to obtain biological specimen collections for translational research.
Work with research team to screen, recruit, and consent participants for specific research studies.
Perform vein puncture (phlebotomy) on study participant per protocol requirements.
Process and de-identify biological tissue, blood and urine specimens and conduct storage and shipment as mandated by protocol and federal guidelines.
Coordinate couriers for specimen delivery and ensure successful delivery of specimens.
Maintain equipment used to process samples including freezers, refrigerators and centrifuges.
Monitor freezer storage, checking daily log to ensure temperature stability.
Schedule clinical researcher meetings as directed and maintain minutes of these meetings.
Assist in data abstraction, entry and maintenance of participant data from medical records.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent requirement. Previous Phlebotomy experience required. Research experience preferred.
This is a Monday through Friday, Day Shift position.
