Busy dermatology office seeking Mohs Histotech to provide high-quality histologic specimens for microscopic evaluation and review by the Mohs Surgeon while also serving the needs of the Mohs laboratory. 2 years Histotech experience preferred, but not required. Must be able to work independently.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare quality slides for microscopic examination by embedding specimens and performing the sectioning of frozen specimens using the Cryostat
  • Perform routine H&E stains for microscopic diagnosis by the Mohs Surgeon
  • Perform special staining as required (Mart-1, etc.) *training available*
  • Mount, label and stain the slides
  • Maintenance of applicable laboratory equipment including cleaning and calibration
  • Maintain quality control records for equipment and instruments
  • Prepare and maintain adequate stock of reagents and other materials needed for the laboratory
  • Recognize laboratory equipment issues/concerns and take appropriate corrective action
  • Ensure that the laboratory is compliant with applicable laws and regulations
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
  • Other duties as needed
