Histotechnician Non-Certified

BThe Histotechnician processes surgical and autopsy tissue for H&E slides, executes routine embedding that produces proper orientation of the tissue; microtomes tissue blocks to appropriate microns as needed; and maintains accuracy of blocks to slides readied for staining in accordance with existing procedures. The Histotechnician coverslips stained microscopic slides meeting the average productivity measure as determined by the supervisor/section chief and operates the Sakura coverslipper proficiently. The Histotechnician prepares for and performs a variety of special stains, including histochemical and immunohistochemical procedures, in accordance with established procedures and quality control documentation. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree or equivalent formal training program, be eligible for HT (ASCP), and have previous experience with chemicals that are carcinogenic.
