Work Hours/Shift:
PRN
 
You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Follows Department and Hospital policies and procedures
  • Follows Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals and laboratory policies including, but not limited to, handwashing, appropriate critical value reporting and readback of results, patient identification and maintaining sample identification throughout the preanalytical, analytical and post analytical phases.
  • Follows laboratory department dress code
  • Answers the telephone in a timely manner and provides customer support both professionally and courteously
  • Seeks to promote a positive patient experience with every patient encounter and participates in activities or education to improve patient experience
  • Monitors pending logs and grease board regularly to provide rapid turnaround time
  • Communicates pending issues at end of shift and documents communication as requested
  • Performs Diagnostic Laboratory Testing accurately and in a timely manner
  • Performs Phlebotomy as needed
  • Performs routine instrument maintenance and calibration.
  • Performs Quality Control Testing
  • Takes appropriate action needed to ensure test result accuracy.  Reports all quality control, quality assurance and patient testing concerns to laboratory manager or supervisor.  Reports to laboratory medical director and supervisor immediately and in detail any quality issues that may negatively impact the laboratory.
  • Recognizes need for additional Quality Control, maintenance, or specimens prior to releasing test results. "Consults Supervisor for assistance when necessary".
  • Recognizes need for flexible staffing; works different or additional shifts when requested by supervisor.
  • Distribute and fax reports as needed
  • Works in an organized, efficient, and careful manner.
  • Maintains a clean work area; keeps supplies stocked.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • State of Florida Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician in Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Serology & Microbiology
 
Job Summary:

To perform clinical laboratory testing safely, accurately and efficiently.  To place a strong emphasis on customer service and team oriented behavior.
