Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. This individual will serve as Assistant Director of the Blood Bank and Transfusion Services at CHOP, joining our collaborative team of five Transfusion Medicine physicians. The position will be based within the Division of Transfusion Medicine.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching rotating residents and fellows, and supporting undergraduate medical education.

Clinical responsibilities may include broad spectrum care for a quaternary pediatric institution with active cardiothoracic and fetal surgery services, pediatric oncology, bone marrow and solid organ transplantation, large PICUs and NICUs, ECMO services, a pediatric emergency room and Level 1 Trauma Center, and a large chronic transfusion program for patients with hemoglobinopathies. The service does not currently include a blood donor center or a reference serology laboratory. The applicant will also provide clinical service in the Apheresis Unit joining a team of physicians for coverage and call performing procedures for a diverse population of patients including a comprehensive sickle cell center and novel cell and gene therapy trial participants.

Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Expertise is required in the specific area of Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine. Pediatric experience is preferred but not required.
