ChristianaCare is recruiting for a Compliance Coordinator for Blood Bank Services In this position, you will be responsible for assuring all blood bank-related operations comply with regulations; incorporating regulations into procedures; and assuring quality of all operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews regulatory documents to maintain up-to-date knowledge of AABB, FDA, CAP, FACT and CLIA regulations. Evaluates current operations to determine if compliance exists, and implements changes when necessary.
Develops and performs quality assurance audits to monitor effectiveness of all systems and compliance with established procedures. Performs focused audits as required by regulations to monitor specific processes, and when specific opportunities are identified. Evaluates results and submits summary of findings with recommendations.
Maintains the Blood Bank Quality Plan
Assures that SOPs accurately describe each procedure and properly reflect regulatory requirements. Assures biennial review of all SOPs by Medical Director, and by staff as required.
Processes all lookback and recall notifications. Reviews with Medical Director and notifies physicians and patients as appropriate.
Monitors quality control records throughout all areas of Blood Bank, Bone Marrow Lab and Infusion Services to assure timely and accurate performance. Facilitates timely investigation/resolution to any issues/concerns identified through internal record review. Adheres to established schedules as defined by procedures and regulations.
Evaluates variance reports, complaints, and errors and accidents. Reports incidents to regulating agencies as required. Assists with follow-up and corrective actions to assure ongoing performance improvement.
Evaluates validation plans, reviews validation summaries and maintains validation documentation for new and/or revised critical equipment and processes implemented within Blood Bank Services.
Prepares for, and participates in, all inspections. Provides requested materials and describes CCHS operations appropriately. Assists in the implementation of corrective actions and in the preparation of responses to the regulating agencies.
Assists in developing and reviewing training and educations programs. Completes inservices to instruct staff of procedural and regulatory revisions.
Coordinates documentation and reporting of adverse effects of transfusions. Reviews all transfusions reactions and coordinates submission to director for interpretation.
Performs self inspections to assure regulatory compliance. Documents all findings and assists with implementation of corrective actions.
Coordinates competency and proficiency testing and maintains documentation of results and corrective actions for submission to inspectors.
Represents section on departmental safety committee.
Performs all duties of the MLS I, MLS II, and TSL Supervisor. Participates in weekend supervisory on-call rotation.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
BS in Medical Laboratory Science
Board of Registry Certification: MLS(ASCP) or Medical Technology with MT(ASCP).
At least two years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Blood Banking
Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) (ASCP) certification preferred
