You Will Be Responsible For:
Assists with rooming patients for appointments, obtains accurate temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height and weight, and documents accurately in the practiceâ™s designated system.
Ensures all test results and correspondence are available in practiceâ™s designated system for the providerâ™s review at the time of patient visit or as otherwise necessary.
Screens patients for appropriate information and documents accordingly in the practiceâ™s designated system. Accurately instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
Effectively explains procedures and treatments to patients and to significant others when necessary.
Ensures efficient office flow by preparing patient and equipment for the needed treatment and initiates testing and documents results into the practiceâ™s designated system when appropriate.
What You Will Need:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program preferred.
1 year medical office experience preferred.
Experience with computers and associated clinical software preferred.
Ability to type 40 words per minute accurately.
Must be willing to float to other AdventHealth Medical Group practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary.
Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following:
American Association of Medical Assistants (âœAAMAâ) for Certified Medical Assistants
American Medical Certification Association (âœAMCAâ) for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification
American Medical Technologists (âœAMTâ) for Registered Medical Assistant
National Association for Health Professionals (âœNAHPâ) for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
National Center for Competency Testing (âœNCCTâ) for National Certified Medical Assistant
National Healthcareer Association (âœNHAâ) for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant
Current, valid CPR certification is required.
The Medical Assistant provides appropriate care to patients within the scope of the Medical Practice Act. This individual obtains clinical, financial and demographic patient data and assists in patient education. Also responsible for assisting providers during the treatment and examination of patients and administers procedures and treatments as ordered by the provider. Performs front office duties as needed and assigned.

Participates in educational sessions to improve skills as appropriate
Participates in the collection of quality data
Assists clinical staff providers with providing patients with outside resources and materials

Assists in identifying and documenting advanced directives
Assists clinical staff and providers with obtaining ER and Hospital information
