POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Performs duties within the ambulatory or inpatient Clinical Laboratories area, which requires a sound knowledge of clinical laboratory science. Requires evaluating clinical data and quality control information. Responsible for overseeing employees and/or specimen testing in designated areas. Assists Laboratory Manager/Laboratory Supervisor as needed to ensure the provision of timely and accurate laboratory test results through processes that are in compliance with requirements established by accreditation standards and by federal/state reimbursement agencies. Assists Laboratory management as needed in staff-related and administrative tasks. Must be able to assist with on-call assignments, as needed.
Bachelors or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science is required.
Two years clinical laboratory experience with at least one year experience in the specific laboratory department is required.
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is required.
