ResponsibilitiesAs the Senior Clinical Laboratory Specialist for Quality Assurance/Compliance, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to direct a quality and compliance program within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Job duties include: maintaining quality system essentials throughout multidisciplinary laboratory operations, ensuring conformity with all regulations, laws, guidelines, and standards of the licensing, accrediting, government and credentialing agencies, reviewing quality data, proficiency testing activities, validation plans, performing assessments/audits, developing new policies, processes and procedures and/or providing technical review for both the laboratory and UCLA Health. Additional duties include: review nonconforming events to identify systematic problems, review data for trends and apply tools for risk management/process improvement, provide oversight for department document control and record retention practices, and conduct trainings.
QualificationsRequired •Current, valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license •Bachelor’s Degree •Minimum 4 years of laboratory experience as a CLS •Minimum 2 years of experience in quality assurance, quality improvement, and compliance related activities •Minimum 2 years of experience in audit and assessment processes, deviation management including the development and assessment of corrective action •Minimum 2 years of experience in training and lecturing to large groups •Working knowledge of regulatory and accrediting agency requirements for Blood Banks including CLIA, Department of Public Health, FDA, CAP and AABB •Working knowledge of principles and tools of Performance Improvement •Knowledge in project planning and implementation •Experience with writing procedures and reports •Excellent interpersonal skills •Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently •Ability to act as a facilitator
Preferred •Specialist in Blood Bank Technology (SBB) certification •Supervisory experience •Certification from American Society of Quality as Certified Quality Auditor (ASQ/CQA) or Certified Quality Manager (ASQ/CQM)
