POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately processes all cytological specimens and performs the final microscopic diagnosis for gynecologic cell samples that are within normal limits and performs the preliminary microscopic diagnosis for abnormal gynecologic and all non-gynecologic cell samples.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science or have graduated from a school of cytotechnology accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and accreditation or other organization approved by HHS; or be certified in cytotechnology by a certifying agency approved by HHS.
Cytotechnology Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) is required.
