Medical Laboratory Scientists and Medical Technologists perform laboratory tests that determine the presence, absence, or cause of disease on patients of all ages. They conduct a full range of tests and utilize precision instruments, computers, and other complex electronic equipment. Med Lab Scientists and Med Techs in this role function as generalists and rotate through various departments, including blood bank, quad, micro-chemistry, and hematology. They have a home department each shift, and that department changes daily. This provides a variety of experiences with sophisticated technology and instrumentation.
Medical Technologists must have strong phlebotomy skills and perform venipunctures, capillary punctures, and arterial punctures. They operate and maintain all instruments. The established team provides a supportive environment where everyone works together for the success of the individuals and the team.
Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biology
Registered MLS (ASCP) / MT (ASCP) required within 12 months of employment or certification by an equivalent national registry for Clinical Laboratory Science
