The Department of Pathology at the University of Iowa Health Care is currently accepting applications for a Clinical Care/Specialized Services Supervisor opening. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals seeking to work in a fast-paced learning environment in our Anatomic Pathology Laboratories.
Basic duties: Provide functional supervision of MLS/MLT’s, laboratory technicians and student employees in the Anatomic Pathology labs. Performs histologic procedures to provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Works collaboratively with section supervisor to ensure smooth, efficient operation of second shift laboratory operation. Monitors and addresses performance of staff to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory and service excellence standards. Serves as point of contact for second shift facilities, safety, or staffing issues. Communicates issues to other members of management team.
This position will be scheduled 3:30 pm – 12:00 am, Monday – Friday.

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is required.
Certification or eligible by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required.
One or more years of experience working in a histology laboratory and providing clinical laboratory support service is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and skills shown by successfully leading teams/groups in projects, work assignments, policy updates, etc. is required.
Prior experience working as a supervisor in a clinical laboratory setting is highly desired.
Experience working in an academic health center is desired.
Additional Salary Information: Starting salary is $50,012/year and all salaries will be commensurate with education and experience.
