This is a supervisory position that manages the grossing room and decedent affair staff and oversees the laboratory in the Surgical Pathology and Decedent Affairs sections of the UCDH Anatomic Pathology Laboratory, following all Departmental and governing organizations polices and guidelines, and ensures effective and efficient operations of the section’s performance.
This position also oversees staff training and competency, investigates problems, makes operational decisions within the department and coordinates with other areas of the laboratory.
Possesses a Pathologists’ Assistant degree from a NAACLS approved Pathology Assistant program and an ASCP Pathologists’ Assistant certification (current and renewed as every two years as required)
Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience as a Pathologist Assistant.
Possesses technical knowledge of Surgical Pathology procedures and pre-analytical processes, policies and procedures as necessary for the supervision of this specialty laboratory section.
Knowledge of hospital and laboratory regulations and requirements (e.g. CDPH, CAP, TJC, AABB, FDA, NAACLS, FACT, OSHA) for testing and laboratory safety.
A minimum of three (3) years of supervising a surgical pathology laboratory in a large hospital laboratory setting.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
