The Department of Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for a 12 month non-tenure track full-time faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program Director and teach specialized courses in MLS. The Program Director will be responsible for the organization,administration, assessment, curriculum development and oversight of the MLS Program with clinical rotations at affiliated sites. The MLS Program Director will utilize knowledge of educational methods and current accreditation and certification procedures to obtain National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accreditation for the program. Service duties include student recruitment and advising, maintaining and expanding clinical partnerships and additional departmental, university, and community service as needed. The successful candidate will have a current MLS Certification (ASCP) CM, a Master's degree in biomedical sciences, experience teaching at the undergraduate level in MLS related courses, knowledge of educational methods, administration and the NAACLS accreditation process. An ideal candidate will be dedicated to excellence in teaching; will have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and will have demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students.
