Faculty Position-Molecular Pathology and Molecular Cytogenetics, Department of Pathology
The Department of Pathology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a Faculty member at the Assistant, Associate or Member level for its Molecular Pathology and Molecular Cytogenetics laboratories. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growing state of the art, CAP and ISO 15189 accredited clinical department that provides advanced molecular diagnostics to support the clinical care of patients treated in the oncology, bone marrow transplant, hematology and cancer predisposition services.
The incumbent will work with an expanding clinical team to sign-out multiple advanced next generation sequencing assays, including whole genome, whole exome, and transcriptome sequencing, as well as targeted capture gene sequencing panels. In addition, various more conventional molecular assays, including engraftment analysis and microchimerism analysis for bone marrow transplant patients, are undertaken on this service. The molecular cytogenetics service includes sign-out of conventional karyotyping, FISH and PET FISH cases. Another major role for the Technical Director will be to oversee the development of new assays that will continue to support cutting edge clinical care of patients and clinical research studies.
Teaching responsibilities include mentoring of technical staff, training Pathology residents/fellows from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and visiting scientists from around the world.

MD, MD/PhD. or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics or other appropriate field of study is required.
MD or MD/PhD candidates must be licensed or eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in TN. PhD candidates must be licensed or eligible for a Director’s license in molecular pathology and cytogenetics.
Certification from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics or Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics is required.
