Primary responsibilities of the Lab Manager / Medical Technologist include:
Primary duties include: providing day-to-day supervision of high complexity test performance by qualified testing personnel;
Is responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained;
Report tests results following hospital protocols and utilizing the Cerner EHR;
Compliance with lab and hospital policies related to safety, cleanliness and infection control;
Available to confer with other lab personnel (lab techs, phlebotomist, etc.) on laboratory testing and training;
Cover for absences of other lab staff as needed, performing phlebotomy and routine lab duties;
Perform proficiency testing as required to meet CLIA standards;
Promoting and demonstrating positive interpersonal relations in dealing with providers, patients, patient families, visitors and co-workers in a professional and confident manner.
ASCP certification in MT or CLS BS or equivalent, certified to perform High Complexity CLIA Testing
Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications and tests.
Knowledge of how to use and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
Knowledge of safety and infection control policies and regulations.
Two year's experience as a medical technologist preferred.
