Under the general supervision of the Assistant Laboratory Director performs a variety of technical and general laboratory duties at an advanced skill level as well as molecular testing data review. LDT molecular testing technologies include qPCR by open array and plate based technologies, Sanger sequencing, DNA extraction. The CLIA/CAP/NYS accredited laboratory requires general knowledge of the concepts of test validation, handling of proficiency samples, PCR contamination control, specimen handling and storage, reagent handling and storage, quality control, and quality management.
Functions independently with minimal supervision.
Experienced micropipetting skills with commensurate attention to detail and prevention of contamination and/or cross sample contamination.
Understanding/skilled at general molecular techniques and technologies, including nucleic acid isolation, traditional and real-time PCR, inventory management, quality assurance/quality control, laboratory information systems data entry and retrieval.
Must have strong computer skills, particularly in Excel. Position requires effective verbal, written, and interactive skills as well as the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
