This Medical Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for:
Working with the laboratory manager to assure that adequate numbers of fully trained and competent staff are scheduled to perform the work of the laboratory.
Providing input to the hiring, progressive discipline and termination processes.
Working with staff to identify and resolve complex technical and procedural problems occurring on the shifts, and coaching staff on appropriate strategies for handling future occurrences.
Communicating all significant problems, trends and issues to the leadership of the laboratory and develops strategies for improvement.
Training and teaching laboratory personnel and other clinical staff. Communicating principle/theory to physicians and other professional staff.
Contributing to department continuing education. May observe, guide, verify and check documentation of less experienced lab personnel.
Monitoring and ensuring the quality of shift work being performed.
Participating in department continuing education including training program expanding scope of knowledge.
Maintaining communications with customers and clients of the laboratory.
Performing a variety of special projects or additional work as needed/assigned including participating in new test development and evaluation.
Drafting procedures/protocols as directed.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or a closely related field plus an internship.
3 to 4 years of experience.
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experienced-based knowledge.
Excellent communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions or well-developed writing skills.

Certification, Registration, or Licensure Required:
Current registration/certification as a Medical Technologist-MT(ASCP) or technologist registered or certified in specific categories as follows: H,C,M,I,BB(ASCP) CLS,BB,H,C,M(NCA) RM(AAM) (HEW)
