Under the direction of the Manager of Laboratory and Laboratory Director, plans, organizes and directs the operation of the specific section of the laboratory. In addition, performs the routine and specialized tests in various areas of the medical laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease involving patients of all age groups. Recognizes the significance of tests in light of patient condition and diagnosis. Responsible for training and competency of staff. Responsible to maintain and review department policies and procedures necessary to maintain compliance with accreditations of organization. Other duties as assigned. (u-s)
A minimum of four years of clinical laboratory experience is required. Previous leadership experience is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or other related science field (Hematology, Chemistry or Microbiology) is required. Advanced degree is preferred. Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills are required.
