Works with key leadership to assure compliance with the Joint Commission, CAP and other regulatory agencies. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Outpatient Laboratory and is responsible for all Memorial Physicians Lab operations and outreach.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Plans, organizes and directs laboratory operations and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Make daily rounds in Laboratory to judge effectiveness of operation, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere. Secures and maintains the physical facilities, equipment and supplies which are required to carry out effective patient care and create an optimum physical environment. Responsible for business development activities. Acquires and manages new client relationships. Oversees lab sales and demonstrates skills related to strategic analysis and marketing. Develops relationships with clients and negotiates contracts. Partners with the marketing department to conduct market research and develop a strategic business development plan. Generates leads by researching organizations and individuals online to identify new leads and potential new markets. Contacts potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and set up meetings for providing services, and plans and oversees new marketing initiatives. Prepares department budgets for personnel, operating expenses and capital equipment. Directs the human resource management function for the department by coordinating the selection, promotion and orientation or new employees. Works with employees on performance development and evaluations, coaching, and conflict resolution. Initiates and oversees billing/ insurance contracting services by completing requests for service. Monitors billed units and provides the billing office with effective service and CPT codes. Provides administrative lab support for all outpatient clinics, including managers, providers and other staff. Pitches products and/or services for business expansion.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree that meets CLIA guidelines for General Supervisor required. MBA preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Scientist required. Two years of supervisor/manager experience required. Previous experience in an outpatient laboratory setting preferred. Experience with laboratory computer systems preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Registered MT (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent licensure required.
