The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) is seeking a Director of Anatomic Pathology with strong diagnostic skills in general surgical pathology. Experience in subspecialty areas pulmonary pathology, renal pathology, transplantation pathology, breast, or genitourinary pathology is highly desirable. The Department of Pathology trains residents and has fellowships in surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, and transfusion medicine. Opportunities for clinical and basic research are available with colleagues in Pathology and other medical school departments and at the Barshop Institute for Longevity & Aging Studies and the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases, the NCI-designated Mays Cancer Center and at the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI). The Director of Anatomic Pathology will serve on the Department Executive Faculty for strategic planning, operations improvement, and policy matters, and will be instrumental in guiding Anatomic Pathology services at the Mays Cancer Center and University Health System, in serving as liaison for Anatomic Pathology with the MD Anderson Cancer Center partnership, and leading a system-wide digital pathology imaging initiative.
The successful candidate will have a M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees and be certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, team building, and communication skills and have at least 10 years of experience practicing in an academic medical center. In addition, the successful candidate must have recognized scholarly achievements including teaching, an established publication record and a national/international reputation in their field of expertise. Salary and academic appointment are commensurate with the level of experience.
