The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) is seeking a Medical Director for the Clinical Laboratories. The applicant must have prior experience directing clinical and/or anatomic pathology laboratory(s) having demonstrated leadership in the direction of quality programs, strategic planning and direction of overall laboratory operations.  Clinical laboratory activities include performance of chemical, microscopic, mycologic and molecular tests. The director’s responsibilities include the oversite of the quality assurance program, the operations, capital acquisitions, staffing and compliance with the applicable laboratory regulations of state, federal, and local agencies. The director participates in the human resource management function for the department and will participate in departmental and UT Health practice committees as appropriate. He/she will oversee the maintenance of laboratory accreditation and licensure. 

The candidate will have an MD or DO degree(s) and have a license to practice medicine in the state of Texas. Candidates with a demonstrated area of academic expertise as evidenced by a record of publication and whose records qualify for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank are preferred. The applicant must have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to interact professionally with faculty and staff.  Salary and academic appointment are commensurate with the level of experience.  Applicants are to submit a curriculum vitae and a brief description of their academic and leadership accomplishments, career goals along with the name and contact information of three references.
