As the Manager of the Core Laboratory, you will responsible for the overall supervision the entirety of the Core Laboratory to ensure delivery of highly efficient, high quality lab results.

DEPARTMENT: Core Laboratory
BS in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent required
Total of 6 years of experience in Core Laboratory required
New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
Certification by a national certification agency preferred (i.e. ASCP, NCA, or AMT)
Supervisory.Manage all operations of the chemistry, hematology, and flow cytometry departments. Supervise daily operations, mentor new employees, and ensure adequate staffing levels. Recognize the need for and assume bench responsibilities as needed. Document employee hour and authorize timecards. Facilitate the installation, validation and correlation of new technology, procedures, assays, and educate technical staff in these facets. Prepare department budget. Review reports for accuracy and variances. Maintain an awareness of emerging technology. Communicate with internal and external customers when presented with problems or special requests and investigate and complete Customer Service Actions and Incident Reports. Report external customer issues to the appropriate department head
Quality. Oversee the Quality Control and Proficiency Testing process. Perform analysis of QC data and initiates action if needed. Serve on corporate committees such as Quality Assurance, Laboratory Compliance. Maintain technical procedure manuals to meet regulatory standards. Review daily exception reports and maintains department in technical readiness for pertinent regulations/standards. Interact with and perform work in accordance with requirements of regulatory agencies. Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance
Staff Professional Development. Cultivate growth opportunities for staff development and monitor overall performance of employees. Prepare and deliver annual and interim performance evaluations and competencies. Schedules designated shift employees for mandatory in-services and obtain a minimum of twelve hours of continuing education hours annually (personally). Participate in recruitment and employee relations in conjunction with Human Resources. Oversees the technologist abnormal slide proficiency program.
