As the Supervisor of Specialized Chemistry, you will responsible for the overall supervision of all Medical Technologists within Special Chemistry. You will have diverse responsibilities in areas of analysis and clinical decision making, information management, regulatory compliance, training, quality assurance/performance improvement, and departmental budget to ensure delivery of highly efficient, high quality lab results.

BS in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent required
Total of 6 years of experience in Specialized Chemistry required
New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
Certification by a national certification agency preferred (i.e. ASCP, NCA, or AMT)
Supervisory. Assume responsibility for channeling appropriate daily operational information. Supervise daily operations, mentor new employees, and ensure adequate staffing levels. Recognize the need for and assume bench responsibilities as needed. Document employee hour and authorize timecards. Facilitate the installation, validation and correlation of new technology, procedures, assays, and educate technical staff in these facets. Assist in preparation of department budget. Review reports for accuracy and variances. Maintain an awareness of emerging technology
Quality. Oversee the Quality Control and Proficiency Testing process. Perform analysis of QC data and initiates action if needed. Serve on corporate committees such as Quality Assurance, Laboratory Compliance. Maintain technical procedure manuals to meet regulatory standards. Review daily exception reports and maintains department in technical readiness for pertinent regulations/standards. Interact with and perform work in accordance with requirements of regulatory agencies. Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance
Staff Professional Development. Cultivate growth opportunities for staff development and monitor overall performance of employees. Prepare and deliver annual and interim performance evaluations and competencies. Schedules designated shift employees for mandatory in-services and obtain a minimum of twelve hours of continuing education hours annually (personally). Participate in recruitment and employee relations in conjunction with Human Resources.
