Performs all technical duties related to the production of histo-pathological slides to include but not limited to:
Embed human tissue
Perform routine and special microtomy procedures
Perform routine and special stainsPerforms technical duties related to production and staining of histopathological slides, specializing in Oncology tissue samples.
Prepare and discard reagents and material per lab guidelines
Operate and maintain tissue processors, embedding instruments and automated staining instruments
Perform preventive maintenance on all histological instruments
Maintain logs, QC routine and special stains
Follow all technical standard operating procedures
Perform additional job functions required and requested by lab supervisor/manager/director
Additional duties as assigned.
High School Diploma with 5+ years histology experience or an Associate's Degree w/1 year of experience in Histology or a Bachelor’s Degree w/1 year of experience in Histology.
ASCP Board eligible or ASCP certification as a Histotechnician.
Candidate will be credentialed through the LabCorp National Office of Quality before being hired. Board eligible candidate will be required to complete the board exam within one year of employment.
