EGL Genetic Diagnostics LLC is searching for an individual to join the Clinical Genomics Testing group as a 2nd Shift Genomics Supervisor in Tucker, GA.
Genomics Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for day-to-day supervision of processing clinical samples and laboratory testing procedures of high complexity.
Coordinates workflow and oversees quality assurance, compliance and regulatory activities in the specialized areas of the laboratory.
Assist in the development of new protocols. Reviews and updates existing controlled documents (procedures, forms, guidelines, processes). Approval authority for minor changes to documents.
Provides technical guidance and training to employees. Oversees training of technical staff to ensure technical employees are trained and competent prior to performing testing. Provides guidance and feedback to laboratory personnel.
Performs semi-annual and annual competencies/evaluations of technical employees.
Documents and monitors quality control and non-conforming events.
Recognizes causes and implements corrective action solutions for all quality events.
Assists in review, interpretation, and reporting of complex and routine test results.
Monitors PM and maintenance schedules as needed.
Maintains, troubleshoots, and performs minor repairs on laboratory equipment. Coordinates instrument repairs with the vendor as needed.
Understands and complies with EHSO, OSHA and EGL Biosafety, Chemical Safety and Radiation Safety procedures and regulations.
Maintains current technical knowledge and skills as defined in EGL policies.
Adheres to administrative policies including but not limited to: attendance, dress code and required training.
Performs on-call responsibilities for after-hour, weekend and holidays as needed.
Acts in a professional manner when interacting with patients, visitors, and other EGL and University staff.
Performs other related responsibilities as required.

The ideal candidate would possess:
Knowledgeable in one or more of the following assays: arrays, FISH, G-banding, DNA extraction methods, next generation sequencing
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Strong leadership, initiative, and team building skills
Previous supervising experience
Position is full-time, Tuesday - Friday 11am-7:30pm and Saturday 7:00am-3:30pm, with overtime as needed including rotational weekends and holidays. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Tucker, Georgia are encouraged to apply.
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)
Six years of related clinical experience.
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology in Molecular Biology or equivalent national certification is required
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
