Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a full-time Senior Pathologist Assistant. As a member of the Roswell Park team you will join two experienced fellow Sr. Pathologist Assistants, thirteen pathologists, and five Histotechnologists in a primary oncology-focused setting. This annual volume reviewed by this team is 26,000 Surgical Cases.
The Senior Pathologist Assistant coordinates activities of workers engaged in performing gross surgical, frozen sectioning, tissue procurement and autopsy procedures. Leads technical and non-technical staff in the preparation of tissue samples used in the laboratory setting. Performs gross examination of surgical specimen and biopsies; assists with performing frozen sections, processing surgical specimens and biopsies and the performance of autopsies; provides oversight of residents, students, histotechnologists, and fellows involved in processing specimen and tissue procurement.
Applicants must have a license to practice as a Pathologist Assistant, Clinical Laboratory Technologist, or Certified Histological Technician in the State of New York, or eligibility for licensure as a Pathologist Assistant. In addition, applicants must have certification as a Pathologist Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP); or eligibility for certification as a Pathologist Assistant by (ASCP). Candidates must possess a degree that meets the minimum qualification for certification as a Pathologist Assistant by (ASCP). The preferred candidate will have previous experience as a pathology assistant in an oncology setting.
