The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic is recruiting for a Section Head of Clinical Biochemistry, within the Department of Laboratory Medicine. With more than 100 pathologists and clinical laboratory scientists and 1500 employees, our clinical laboratories perform over 19 million tests/year to meet the testing needs for the Cleveland Clinic Health System and Cleveland Clinic Laboratories, our reference laboratory. The section of Clinical Biochemistry includes the Automated Chemistry (including the Blood Gas Lab and Taussig Cancer outpatient Lab), Special Chemistry (including Mass Spectrometry and Biochemical Genetics), and Immunopathology Laboratories at our main campus. In addition to clinical and consultative activities, members of the staff have the ability to perform clinical research and participate in education of medical students, residents, technologists, and post-graduate trainees. The Section is home to a Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (COMACC)-accredited clinical chemistry fellowship.
Candidates should have an MD and/or PhD with subspecialty certification in Chemical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or Clinical Chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and minimum 5 years of experience directing a clinical laboratory. Candidates will have demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, as well as expertise in test development, test validation, and laboratory regulatory requirements.
