The Department of Pathology at the University of Iowa Health Care is currently accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist opening. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals seeking to work in a fast paced learning environment within our Blood Bank in DeGowin Blood Center Laboratories.
Utilizing a variety of procedures involving highly complex analytical lab test methodology and techniques, perform quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory analysis on biological specimens such as blood, tissue and body fluids. These procedures will utilize a variety of procedures, many involving numerous highly complex tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment. Provide technical expertise and information used to diagnose, prevent or treat disease.
This position will be filled as either a Medical Laboratory Technician (salaries for 100% MLT starts at $41,554 to commensurate) or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (salaries for 100% MLS starts at $44,923 to commensurate).
This DeGowin Blood Center Laboratory position is a 100% time position, Rotating 2nd/3rd shift (will work 3rd shift approximately 1 of every 4-6 weeks, with 6 days off before returning to second shift), rotating weekends and holidays with potential for on-call in the future. Third shift, Monday-Monday, 10 hour shifts from 9:00 PM-7:00AM; Second shift, 8 hour shifts between 3:00 PM and 1:00 AM (standard weekend and holiday rotation applies).
