This position is located in the Phlebotomy and Processing section, Ambulatory Care Serviceat the Richard L. Roudebush VAMC, Indianapolis, Indiana.The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Medical Technologist at a large (1A) medical facility with multiple Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOCs). The incumbent is responsible for the full range of supervisory duties in phlembotomy and specimen processing including sending specimens to reference laboratories.
The duties of this position include, and are limited to, the following:
Supervises up to 30 employees with differing appointment types and occupational series.
Recommends appointment, plans and assigns work, gives advice and counsel and evaluates the work of subordinates.
Assures the orientation, training andcompetency assessment of assigned staff.
Serves as the Subject Matter Exert (SME) in specimen procurement and processing.
Ensures that all quality and regulatory guidelines are followed.
Ensures that staff deliver quality customer service and effectively handle customer complaints.
