The Department of Pathology at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks a Physician-Scientist for the position of the Director of the Section of the Medical Microbiology Service. The ideal applicant will be a physician with a track record of academic and leadership accomplishments including peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding and expertise in diagnostic clinical microbiology. Board certification or eligibility in Medical Microbiology is highly desired. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to provide medical direction of the laboratory, to implement new diagnostic tests, and to interact with clinicians in an academic medical center environment. The candidate will direct his/her own basic or translational research program and will become an integral member of the multidisciplinary team at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System. This position is at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
