Blood Bank Medical Director
Ideal candidates must be board certified in Clinical Pathology (CP, with joint AP/CP certification preferred); accredited fellowship training in Transfusion Medicine (to include stem cell retrieval and apheresis) with board certification in Transfusion Medicine; and a minimum of 3 years post-fellowship experience, preferably with at least 2 years as a Director or Associate Director of a Blood Bank. Must have demonstrated leadership and management abilities, including experience in support of oncology, hematology, trauma, pediatric and obstetric programs.
- Providing visible and accessible leadership and overseeing all operations of the respective hospital Blood Bank.
- Serving as the liaison with the Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Laboratory Service Line.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements of CAP, AABB, New York State Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies.
- Providing leadership with respect to patient safety and quality, blood bank/transfusion medicine policies and procedures and operational performance of the blood bank.
