The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine of the Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a full-time faculty member to join a general hematopathology clinical service group at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Additional leadership roles exist for candidates with the appropriate credentials and experience which include medical director of multiple areas, Hematopathology Fellowship Director, Vice Chair, and Director of Clinical Pathology. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Candidates should be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Wisconsin and should have board certification in Hematopathology through the American Board of Pathology. Expertise in Molecular Hematopathology or Coagulation is desirable but not required. The position will involve hematopathology service work and teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The candidate will also have a track record or clear potential for development of an independent program of scholarly achievement. The Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin consists of 55 faculty members that serve five hospitals, including Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Community Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the Zablocki V.A. Medical Center. The candidate will be joining a hematopathology group consisting of 4 adult and 1 pediatric hematopathologists that handles approximately 2100 in-house bone marrow specimens, 4200 leukemia/lymphoma flow cytometry studies, and 500 in-house tissue specimens, as well as a substantial additional volume of cases from outside facilities seen as second opinions. The training programs encompass 16 AP/CP residency slots, two one-year hematopathology fellowship positions, and additional fellowship programs in various subspecialty areas. The department houses a full-service translational research core facility that serves the human tissues research needs of both the pathology faculty and translational researchers across the campus. This laboratory offers a full range of technical platforms, from histology and immunohistochemistry through next generation sequencing, and these services are available to all faculty members; financial and technical support is provided for faculty members who wish to develop a successful academic career. Opportunities for collaboration with basic science departments, clinical and translational investigators throughout the system, and the newly formed MCW Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine Center are numerous.
The position is based at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, the main adult teaching hospital for the Medical College of Wisconsin, but will also entail responsibilities at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Both are located at the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, a comprehensive 225-acre medical campus located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Milwaukee.
