The successful candidate will work in a high volume Research Histology service facility that supports clinicians and faculty investigators for the University of Pittsburgh and affiliated institutions. The technician will operate automated tissue processors and automated stainers and perform routine histological processing, cutting, and staining, Immunohistochemistry, and TUNEL stains on human and animal tissues. The staining is prepared by both manual and automated methodologies, including multiplex staining techniques. Routine and novel antibodies will be utilized requiring the ability to troubleshoot antibody optimization. Tissue cutting of frozen tissue on a cryostat and Paraffin embedded tissue on a microtome will be required. Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork will be required to work as a part of the histology team and to meet with faculty clients of the facility to understand their research needs and provide feedback on results as needed.

Degree required in Biology, Health Sciences or related field. Two years' experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Associates degree or graduation from a technical training institution, an HT or HTL certification and 5 years histology experience may be substituted for education requirement.
