Responsible for developing and maintaining the Histology Technology program and its accreditation status (self-studies, evaluation of success of program, etc.). Supervises the day-to-day operations of the program. Under the direction of the Department Manager, performs technical functions necessary to support the quality and business operations of the department. Serves as an educational resource for all department staff.

Three years of experience in all aspects of the discipline of histotechnology.
Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, chemistry, biology, histotechnology, or physical science. Coursework must include a minimum of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology AND chemistry (6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 18 hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination)
Training in a histopathology laboratory under the direction of a qualified pathologist. Training in all aspects of histotechnology, including tissue fixation and processing, tissue embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining. Training must be sufficient to meet requirements for achieving ASCP certification as HT or HTL.
